Sam Levine, CFA, CMT

Sam LevineSam Levine is one of fewer than 200 people worldwide who holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® and the Chartered Market Technician® designations. He is active and known within the security and market analysis fields for his work coordinating CFA® study groups for the NY Society of Security Analysts and his service on the Nominating, Accreditation, and Long Range Planning committees of the Market Technicians Association. He has also authored financial columns for two regional magazines and reported on the financial markets for an award-winning radio station in the Hamptons.

Sam is the Managing Partner of the Buttonwood Group and is responsible for training, compliance and overall strategy of the firm. He also actively recruits within small- to medium-sized registered investment advisor firms across the United States with a particular focus on portfolio management and business development.

Sam is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), the Market Technicians Association and the CFA Institute®. He is a U.S. Army veteran and graduated from the State University of NY at Stony Brook with a BA from their honors program in psychology. When not in the Grosse Pointe, Michigan home of the Buttonwood Group, he and his family can frequently be found in their home state of New York. His personal passions include scuba diving and guitar.

 

Heather Levine

Heather Levine is in charge of the day-to-day administrative and operations issues of the Buttonwood Group. Her previous position was in the marketing department of the National Basketball Association in New York where she supported the director of marketing. Heather has also worked at ABC and Neilsen Ratings.

 

Sylvia Ranspach, MLIS

Sylvia Ranspach holds the position of Vice President of Intelligence at the Buttonwood Group. She uses her background in information research to collect, organize and analyze information regarding investment management professionals and firms.

Prior to joining the Buttonwood Group, she worked in information research at corporate and academic libraries for over five years. Sylvia worked as a librarian at General Motors R&D Library where she primarily handled information requests from scientists, engineers, lawyers and business people. While completing her MLIS, she worked as the graduate assistant to the director of the School of Library and Information Science at Wayne State University and served as president of the library student organization. Sylvia conducted research for collections management and development librarians at Michigan State University's Main Library for three years.

Sylvia is an active member of the Special Libraries Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries. Sylvia obtained her Masters in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University and her bachelors degree in Journalism from Michigan State University.
